Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I hope you are enjoying a happy and healthy New Year. As we kick off 2008, we thought it would be appropriate to reflect upon 2007, and look to the future.
As always, please keep your comments and suggestions coming. We want to be sure that this monthly glimpse into Cooper Aerial remains both informative and entertaining.
Regards,

Jeff Cooper
We chose Jeff to be in the employee spotlight this month in celebration of his birthday. While Jeff will not allow us to divulge his age, we encourage you to speculate.
Jeff has been a part of Cooper Aerial since his father, Bill Cooper, first opened the doors in 1966. Jeff came to work full-time at Cooper in 1981 and stepped in as President and CEO, in 1989, prior to his father’s retirement. He has since worked diligently to lead Cooper into the future of aerial photo, through his persistent search for new and exciting technologies.

In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his sons Haydn, 10, and James, 3, and his lovely wife Candice. Jeff also enjoys fishing, hiking and movie making, some of his most riveting pieces can be found on YouTube.
On behalf of everyone at Cooper, we would like to wish Jeff a happy birthday and thank him for his dedication to Cooper Aerial and his employees!

Special Recognition:
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize General James B. Peake for his recent confirmation as the Veterans’ Administration Secretary. General Peake served with our very own Rick Bunger in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam in 1967.
Rick traveled to Washington D.C. to attend General Peake’s confirmation hearings on December 5, 2007. General Peak was then sworn in on December 27.
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to General Peake for this extraordinary accomplishment.

We announced the Cooper Challenge in April of 2007. With this announcement we challenged geospatial customers to ask questions of their vendors in order to ensure that they are receiving only the highest caliber of work. And to our fellow geospatialists, we encouraged them to hold an open dialog with their customers; helping them to understand the importance of proper project planning and Q/A Q/C.
Since the announcement of the Cooper Challenge, we have received positive feedback from geospatial professionals and customers alike. The motivation behind the Cooper Challenge was to raise industry standards, resulting in higher quality products and a well informed customer base.
As more and more of our colleagues and customers have accepted the Cooper Challenge, together we have begun to raise industry standards. By encouraging customers to ask questions and expect more out of their geospatial professionals, we hope to see this trend continue.
Among others, Inland Aerial accepted the Cooper Challenge, click here to read the full length press release.

Voice over IP System
In early 2007 we began using a Voice over IP System. Our own Jeremy Brockman headed up the implementation of the Asterisk based IP-PBX system in both our Phoenix and Tucson offices. This open source communication platform has connected our offices and employees like never before.
Among other things, the system includes direct connect capabilities, transferring calls between offices, opening the lines of communication from office to office, and conference call functionalities for use among Cooper employees and customers. The system can be used with desk phones or soft phones using a headset connected a laptop and can be dialed direct from Outlook.
From a business prospective the launch of our VoIP System has made employees more accessible. By mitigating the cost of long distance, the new system will pay for itself by mid-2008.
We highly recommend investing in similar technology to those of you have multiple facilities as it has vastly improved communication at Cooper.

Geo Scans
We are proud to announce that our Geo Scans division has been in business for 8 months, reporting month over month success since its launch in May of 2007.
The Geo Scans department offers photogrammetric scanning services at highly competitive rates. Cooper purchased 2 DSW700 Scanners to work in conjunction with yet another scanner, which the company already owned, just before the launch of the Geo Scans division.
The great success of Geo Scans can be attributed to our unmatched commitment to quality and our competitive pricing model. Despite the current state of the economy, we expect to see the success of Geo Scans persist as we continue to exceed the expectations of our valued customers.
