Newsletter May 2011

A Note from our President

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I hope this newsletter finds you well!

As summer quickly approaches we’re looking forward to enjoying some afternoon BBQ’s, spending some time by the pool, and some good ole’ fashion R&R! The first of the year has proven to be a very busy time for Cooper Aerial and I’m very excited to announce our 2011 Maricopa, Pima, and Pinal imagery. We’ve flown roughly 14,000 square miles and will have it available for all interested parties by the end of June.

It was great to see a lot of you at Roads and Streets and as always thanks for stopping by our party. I hope you all had as much fun as we did. Please enjoy the rest of the newsletter and keep those questions and comments coming!

Regards,

Jeff Cooper

60th Arizona Roads and Streets Conference

The 2011 Roads and Streets Conference was again held at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, April 20 through the 22. This year’s conference was another great success. Jeff Cooper, Jeff Ohm, Chris Seck, Emily Awbrey and Tim Burrows were all in attendance to represent Cooper Aerial.

Along with our friends at Ritoch Powell & Associates, Shephard Wesnitzer, Southwest Traffic Engineering and Core Engineering we hosted our annual party on Thursday night, April 21. The theme of this year’s party was Happy Days, giving all of the chance to cut loose and catch up with old friends in true 50′s fashion.

We would like to thank everyone who visited the Cooper booth and/or attended the party. It was great to see so many familiar faces and make new acquaintances!

Project Highlights

2011 Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima Imagery

We’re proud to announce our new 2011 imagery of Maricopa, Pima, and Pinal Counties! We have acquired approximately 14,000 Square Miles of Color Digital Ortho-Rectified imagery of the Phoenix Metro Area including Wickenburg, Gila Bend, and Casa Grande. Flown at 1:24000 in Color Stereo Analog Photography, the imagery will have a ground sample distance of .8′ or 9.6″ scanned at 10 microns and will be visually equivalent to a 1′ digital product.

Cooper has also acquired all of Pinal County at the same resolution and is currently acquiring 2,800 square miles for Pima County, including Marana, Oro Valley, Tucson and surrounding areas.

We are very excited to have up-to-date imagery of each of these areas! Having this imagery readily available enables us to fulfill a wide range of project requests in a very short order. For a sample or more information on the imagery please email us or call us at (800) 229-2279.

APLS Conference

The APLS Conference was held at the Fiesta Resort Convention Center last week. We were represented by Emily Awbrey, Chris Seck, Jeff Ohm and Tim Burrows. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit our booth! Congratulations to the winners of the 3 sets of Diamondbacks tickets!

Cooper Visits the University of Arizona College of Civil Engineering

Chris Seck and Tim Burrows shared a presentation on Photogrammetry, GIS and Lidar with students from the University of Arizona College of Civil Engineering during their monthly luncheon. Chris and Tim enjoyed the opportunity to discuss the topic with some of the best and the brightest that UofA has to offer. With roughly 70 students in attendance, the presentation proved to be a great success.

 Congratulations!

We are proud to announce the birth of the latest addition to the Cooper Aerial family! Eli Sabin Gershkovich was born February 12, 2011 to Phil and Candace Gershkovich. At 5 pounds 19 inches, Eli is a happy and healthy baby boy. On behalf of everyone at Cooper Aerial we would like to congratulate Phil and Candace on the birth of their second son!
